7 Tips to Win More Often at Blackjack

Blackjack can be an intimidating game – especially for beginners. This keeps  the game a challenge, but it’s an unnecessary buzzkill when you dive right in, only to keep on losing the game.

To prevent this from happening, you can prepare without too much effort, and that’s exactly where we are happy to help you!

Tip 1: Get the basics right

If you don’t mind to lose.. a lot I mean, you can skip this step. But to win, it’s wise to be familiar with all the actions you can do within a game of Blackjack before you start playing with stakes. If it helps, as a beginner or just as a reminder in the heat of a game, it’s allowed to keep a cheatsheet with you with the basic rules and terms – even in a physical casino!

To make it easier for you we have a complete guide on how to play Blackjack here and even a ready-to-go cheatsheet here!

Tip 2: keep yourself paced

Unlike in the flashy and glamorous movies about Las Vegas, impulsive gambling rarely ends in winning your dreams. Set a budget for yourself and stick to it, don’t spend money you don’t have.

Tip 3: You are the one raising the stakes – or the one who doesn’t

Don’t increase your bets after a losing streak out of frustration – and rather don’t do it after a winning streak either. Spread your chances by keeping your stakes a bit even, maybe only lowering a bit after losing, and raising a little bit after winning.

Tip 4: Hit or stand?

If you can’t see the forest for the trees anymore, playing safe might be.. well, safe! If you have 12-16 in your hand and the dealer’s open card is 7 or higher, hit for a card. In other cases, stand.

Tip 5: Know when to split!

Blackjack is a game of chance and that’s why some ground rules will always  work and increase your chance of winning. For instance, always split eights and aces, because this will always be in your favor. If you don’t, chances of losing are skyhigh from that moment on.

Tip 6: Know when not to split

Don’t split with fours, fives or tens. This will never be to your advantage in the rest of the game. With two’s, three’s, sixes, sevens and nines, only consider splitting when the dealer has a 2, 3, 4, 5 or a 6.

Tip 7: Insurance?

We can be short and clear about this one – don’t do it man. Especially in the longer term insurance will never fatten your wallet.
